In 2014 I entangled myself with a group of equally afflicted classic car enthusiasts. Without a car of my own (let alone being old enough to get a license) I earned an invitation by being handy enough with a camera to photograph our casual gatherings and Sunday morning drives.

Rather quickly, friends invited friends who invited more friends, and the number of cars and mates keen to join us grew. We knew we had a good thing in the works…

THE VAUCLUSE CAR CLUB

We jokingly referred to these casual gatherings as the ‘Vaucluse Car Club’, named so as that’s where we parked up for coffee at a mates garage, though this was quickly becoming bigger than a few mates shooting the breeze over Alfa Romeo’s.

We knew this could be a force for good, so we registered the VCC as a not-for-profit and set about using it as a platform to raise money for the Sydney Children’s hospital Foundation. We hosted our first public gathering on the grounds of Vaucluse House Estate in 2019, welcoming over 100 of Sydney’s finest classic and sports cars for the morning.

Today we host large public gatherings twice annually, plus the occasional private drive with a group of cars on a very special day trip to somewhere unique; it’s a money-can’t-buy experience.

We now host our large VCC gatherings in Gap Bluff, Watsons Bay, packing the amazing venue with over 200 classic and modern enthusiast cars, with everyone welcome as long as they’re eager to share their passion and help raise money for charity. We sell out every event and tickets are in high-demand with over 500 active members and thousands of regular public attendants.

All proceeds raised through ticket sales, donations from the public attendants, plus sponsorship are directly donated to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.
